i still remember the day: 27 august 2000. it is the first time for me to go abroad and the fifth time for me to go by plane :P norak ya? anyway, it is a blessing for me to get such scholarship from my former lecturer in university. yup, i am going to study for mba in asian institute of technology, bangkok, thailand (click here to ait website and here to permitha ait website to see more about living in ait for indonesian students). anyway, after successfully paid a lot for excess baggage (i bring a lot from books to indomie), i left for bangkok. arrive in don muang, permitha already arrange for picking up. but since there was none in sight, i go to the information center and ask to call the name. but since our face look like local people, they thought i am thai, they make the announcement in thai. no wonder, nobody come. realizing that, i come again and ask them to repeat in english. and there they are, pak sis and ilyas helping me around. and so the school life began...
tricks a lot of means of transportation is available in don muang airport; regular taxis, 'limousine' (mercy 300e), airport bus, and even regular bus. taxis to downtown bangkok cost around 300 baht (1 baht=rp 210), limo around 600 baht, airport bus you have to wait but it cost around 20-30 baht. if it is your first time, it is suggested to go out and find an arranged queue for taxi; they will give you approximate amount of fare. give them the address of your destination. it is common if the driver asked you to give you more once you arrived; but at least you will know how much at first. good luck!
